Tibetan Terrier Open Show 19th of october 2019 – Judge presentation
Hi, my name is Maria Brunell. I am 31 years old and live in Oslo with 3 TTs. My TTs are family members, sleep in my bed, go with me on trips or whatever I do.
Just before my 7th birthday, we got the family’s first TT – Bixi (N ch Izakhan’s Bix-I). This was my beginning with the breed, but my mother, Bente, had a TT and a litter from her in the 70’s. When I was 9, after Bixi became a champion, I got my first try in the show ring. That I was so short that I needed help to lift her up on the table was no problem, only a challenge! Once in the breed ring and one 2nd place in child&dog competition – I was hooked, I loved it!
Under the prefix Dhoki Apso, we had our first litter together in 2000, and have had 9 litters after this. These litters have resulted in several national, nordic and international champions and winner titles, several group placements and most winning TT in Norway 8 different years, where 3 of these years we had both most winning female and male. Our latest and maybe biggest achievement was female CC winner (best female) & best veteran at Crufts this year.
After our first litter, which of course was my mom’s responsibility, it has mostly been me taking decisions and been responsible. I’ve had a couple of years on the board and some more in the breeding committee in the Norwegian TT club. I’ve completed NKC’s two breeding courses, their anatomy course and passed the ring steward written exam. I still need to do some pupil work to be an approved ring steward before I can apply for acceptance to NKC’s judge education program – something I hope I will have the opportunity do someday.
This will be my second appointment as a judge for TTs, as I will do my first in Sweden this summer. I have admired finish TTs for as long as I can remember, so I’m beyond words of gratitude and excitement for this possibility. I will do my outermost to give a just judgement of everyone entered.
